Survival Chinese

This Survival Chinese course is for those who are travelling to or trading with China, and need to learn basic spoken Mandarin.

We will be learning how to make basic conversation, such as introducing oneself, ordering food, asking for directions, asking the price of something etc. We will primarily be using Pinyin, with a rudimentary introduction to characters.

Inclusions:

1. Recordings of all lectures.

2. All study materials.

We will be covering listening, speaking, and correctly reading Pinyin.

The Logic of Mandarin: Foundation Course

The Foundation Course in Mandarin Chinese is a 10 hour course that provides a conceptual understanding of the working of Mandarin Chinese.

This is for students who want to build a strong foundation in the language before they progress to studying for the HSK Examinations.

We will be learning how to greet one another and introduce ourselves, the rules of Pinyin, radicals and compound Chinese characters, basic verbs, and constructing simple sentences.

Inclusions:

2. All study materials.

We will be focussing on reading, writing, listening, speaking, and typing.

HSK Level 1

HSK 1/Beginners 1 takes you through the syllabus for the first level of the HSK Mandarin Chinese Diploma.

We will be covering listening, reading, speaking, writing and typing.

Topics covered include basic greetings, asking and answering questions about oneself, SVO structure, understanding and using modal verbs, talking about family and relationships, learning to tell the date and time, talking about the weather, talking about events in progress, learning the difference between tense and aspect, and learning to highlight specific details about past events (detailed list below).

We will be working with simplified characters.

This course takes a minimum of 25-30 hours of class, along with ample homework and revision, to complete satisfactorily.

2. All study materials: audio files, textbooks, workbook, handouts and practice exams.

Mode: Group
Suitable For: Students who have completed the foundation course or students who have prior knowledge of the language.
Fee: INR 15000

HSK 1 Textbook Contents

HSK Level 2

HSK 2/Beginners 2 takes you through the syllabus for the second level of the HSK Mandarin Chinese Diploma.

This course is a continuation from HSK 1, and covers listening, reading, speaking, writing and typing.

This level introduces more vocabulary and grammar structures, while building on the concepts learned in HSK 1 (detailed list below).

We will continue working with simplified characters.

This course takes a minimum of 35-40 hours of class, along with ample homework and revision, to complete satisfactorily.

Inclusions:
1. Recordings of all lectures.
2. All study materials: audio files, textbooks, workbook, handouts and practice exams.

Mode: Group
Suitable For: Students who have finished studying for HSK 1 (exam certificate not required). A mock test or alternative assessment will be conducted to assess the learner’s level.
Fee: INR 20,000

HSK 2 Textbook Contents

HSK Level 3

HSK 3/Beginners 3 takes you through the syllabus for the third level of the HSK Mandarin Chinese Diploma.

This course is a continuation from HSK 2, and covers listening, reading, speaking, writing and typing.

This level introduces more vocabulary and grammar structures, while building on the concepts learned in HSK 2 (detailed list below).

We will continue working with simplified characters.

This course takes a minimum of 60 hours of class, along with ample homework and revision, to complete satisfactorily.

Inclusions:
1. Recordings of all lectures.
2. All study materials: audio files, textbooks, workbook, handouts and practice exams.

Mode: Group
Suitable For: Students who have finished studying for HSK 2 (exam certificate not required). A mock test or alternative assessment will be conducted to assess the learner’s level.
Fee: INR 35,000

Private Classes

Private classes are designed for individuals or small groups that want to take classes together.

These classes can be customized for HSK, or any other specific topic or purpose one would like to work towards.

Course design will involve listening, reading, speaking, writing and typing, depending on the requirements of the student.

Timings are flexible, and can be arranged at the student’s convenience.
